We, Roel and Desiree Knoop, the owners of the Scalindjo kennel, would like to welcome you to our website. Breeding is a hobby for us, that’s why we only have a couple of litters per year.
We hope you can find the information you are looking for and that you will enjoy our animals
like we do.
We bought our first Siamese in 1989 and our second 6 months later.
Because of these two cat’s we fell in love with this wonderful breed.
We were really looking forward to breed a litter, but not just like that. So with did a lot of research on bloodlines and genetics, and so our first litter was born in 1992.
The Siamese/Oriental shorthair is a cat with a very present character, always in for a play or a chat.
It is a cat that really appreciates company, and really needs it, so the presents of at least an other cat is necessary.
Our kittens are socialised with great care. We find this very important. Kittens that are held in 1 single room the first 8/10/12 weeks and will be in little contact with the family are most of the time frightened kittens, and they will stay this way for the rest of their lives.
Here our kittens will in the first few weeks stay in their own kitten room, where mother and kittens can have their rest. When they start walking around, then we bring them to the living room, in a kitten box, this is a very large place from where they can see the entire room, and so the business of the family. In there they have a cat toilet, toys and scratching posts
This is a safe place for them, and they can learn to use the cat toilet.
When they are well toilet trained, they are fulltime allowed to use the whole living room as well as the entire house. They are also able to go into the fenced (electric wired) garden, from where they cannot escape and where foreign cat’s cannot enter the garden.
|
Our female cat’s live free in our house and is not locked up in rooms or cages. With the females we only breed a couple of litters, and then they will get neutered.
Our males have each a part of the barn as a living room, with an outlet to an outside kennel.
|
Their rooms are provided with scratching post, walking shelf’s, sleeping baskets, heating and music.
The outside kennel is provided with a hole in the roof, with a cage on the roof mend to be their “penthouse”, where they can enjoy the sun.
We deliberately choose to separate the males from the females to keep the group in a calm, steady environment, and so their cannot be any accidents (the so called “oops” litters).
The males we only keep for about 2 years, and then they will be castrated and replaced.
We breed with cats from healthy lines, and of the modern type, with as less as possible inbreeding. We will only use inbreeding to keep the quality that will not be a risk for any health problem.
Every now and then we import kittens from other countries so we can introduce new bloodlines in our cattery.
All our cats are yearly tested for:
Felv
Fiv
The females that come here for a mating must also recently be tested negative for Felv and Fiv
Placing policies:
Kittens will be placed by true lovers of this breed, and for loving and remaining homes.
Kittens for breeding will only be placed to serious breeders/cattery´s which have experience in this breed and who are trying to improve it.
A separate agreement will be giving with these kittens.
Kittens are only sold if they have the company of another cat.
Kittens will be placed with a agreement , a dutch pedigree, fully vaccinated, chipped and wormed, and are allowed to go to their new owner at the age of 13/14 weeks.
We ship to other countries.
.
We sell to other breeders if,
Before we sell a kitten boy, we want to know and see (photos) how this cat is going to live when he is adult.
We understand adult boys when thy start pee thy need to have there own place, but this place has to be comfortable, with heating, window, fresh air, chairs, toys, radio, enough space, and company from a other cat.
If you can show us you can offer this to your future stud, you are welcome.
You are always free to visit us after making an appointment, and to make a reservation for a kitten.
For more information about the kittens, cat’s and the expected litters you can always call or email us.
