The Galgo Español is an old Spanish dog breed, best known as a sighthound originally bred for hunting hares. Here is a brief breed description:

Appearance:
Body: Slender, elegant and athletic build with long legs and deep chest.
Coat: There are two varieties: Short-haired (smooth and fine) Wire-haired (with a hard, bristly coat)
Colour: Various colours are allowed – brindle, black, white, fawn, reddish brown, piebald, etc.
Temperament: Gentle, friendly and gentle. Often somewhat shy or reserved towards strangers. Affectionate and loyal to the family. Intelligent, but sometimes a bit stubborn.
Exercise: Needs sufficient exercise daily, but in the house they are usually calm and quiet. Large running space or safe off-leash areas are ideal.
